The inspiring story of Prophet Ibrahim's ultimate test of faith.
The story of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) peace be upon him is one of the most profound in all of scripture. It is the story that gave birth to the tradition of Qurbani.
According to Islamic tradition, Allah commanded Ibrahim in a dream to sacrifice his son Ismail. Both father and son, trusting completely in Allah's wisdom, agreed to carry out this divine command.
As Ibrahim was about to perform the sacrifice, Allah called out to him: 'You have fulfilled the vision.' And in the place of Ismail, Allah provided a magnificent ram to be sacrificed.
This story is remembered every year during Eid al-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice. It teaches us about the nature of true faith — not a blind following of ritual, but a willing submission of our dearest possessions to the will of Allah.
Allah says in the Quran: 'Indeed, Ibrahim was a leader, devoutly obedient to Allah, inclining toward truth, and he was not of those who associate others with Allah.' (Nahl, 120)
When we donate Qurbani through qurban.us, we are participating in a tradition that connects us to Ibrahim's legacy and to the global Muslim community.
