Doors Opened by Qurbani: A Journey to Faith in South America

In Haiti, Paraguay, and Chile, non-Muslim families who received Qurbani meat and food packages began seeing Islam's face of generosity — and one by one, they took their shahada. Your donation is more than an act of worship; it may be the key that opens the most important door in someone's life.
"By Allah, if Allah guides one person through you, it is better for you than red camels — the greatest worldly wealth." (Bukhari, Muslim)
When we read this hadith, it often remains an abstract virtue in our minds. But in the narrow streets of Haiti, the rural towns of Paraguay, and the distant villages of Chile, the volunteers on the ground are witnessing it come to life.
■ It Starts With One Package
Every distribution begins with a simple intention: on Eid al-Adha, deliver meat and food packages to families in need. As our students carried Qurbani donations into South America's poorest neighborhoods, they encountered something they hadn't fully anticipated.
Non-Muslim families were holding fresh meat — sometimes for the very first time in their lives. And the strangers who brought it had come not for politics, not for gain, but purely out of faith and love.
■ "Why Are You Giving This to Us?"
In a neighborhood in Haiti, an elderly woman examined her package carefully, then turned to the interpreter and asked: "Who are these people? Why are they giving us this? What do they want in return?"
The answer was simple: "They are Muslims. On Eid al-Adha, their faith calls them to share meat with those in need."
That day, the woman wept. A few months later, she took her shahada.
■ Children. Families. Neighbors.
This is not an isolated story. Volunteers who distributed in Paraguay reported that in neighborhoods where Qurbani was shared, people began asking: "Who can tell us more about this religion?" and "Who are these Muslims? How do they live?"
Questions led to conversations. Conversations led to shahadas.
In Chile, an entire family — mother, father, and two children — took their shahada together. It all started with a food package left at their door years before.
■ What Is the Price of Guidance?
A Qurbani donation costs $175. The meat that reaches a family's table sometimes sparks a question that lasts for years. That question becomes a door to guidance.
The Prophet ﷺ said: "By Allah, if Allah guides one person through you, it is better for you than red camels — the greatest worldly wealth." (Bukhari, Muslim)
Your Qurbani is an act of worship. But it may also be the key that opens the most important door in someone's life.
■ Join This Great Good
Our distributions in South America are ongoing. Every Qurbani reaches a family's table. Every table may open a question. Every question may lead to guidance.
Every soul that passes through a door opened by your generosity will be written in your ledger of good deeds until the Day of Judgment.
